Founder of Veld and Sea, Roushanna Gray is a wild food artist and avid forager who shares her passion for the edible landscape through immersive educational experiences, connection and creativity. Inspired by the natural world around her, she has been working and learning about the diverse wild flavours found in the mountains, veld, and gardens for over 15 years. The wide range of delicious and nutritious edibles found in the intertidal rock pools along the Cape’s coastline plays a major role in her cooking and teaching. Her Veld and Sea rustic wooden Kitchen Cabin and Glasshouse are located at the family’s indigenous plant nursery in the South Peninsula opposite the Cape Point Nature Reserve.

THE GLASSHOUSE

A collaboration of love was built and designed by Tom and Roushanna Gray, who live and work on the property and created the eclectic Veld and Sea kitchen cabin. The Glasshouse wooden floors, reclaimed and upcycled window frame walls and glass sliding doors on both the south and north sides of the room. A light-filled space that’s an extension of the outdoors. Enjoy Veld and Sea signature dishes prepared using fresh seasonal ingredients and locally produced products. 

With the season, tide, moon phase, availability in the gardens and wild determining the menu for the day. Your foraged ingredients will be incorporated into the meal. This food-art nature-inspired experience will culminate in a pairing of your meal with a perfectly poured botanical cocktail.

Join Roushanna on a seasonal inspired, food-art experience in her Veld and Sea workspace at Cape Point. Your day will start with a helicopter flight over the Atlantic Seaboard and Cape Point where you will land for your transfer to Roushanna’s. The experience includes a walk in the wild to collect or view colours, texture, flavour and food.
